We believe that the GPS tracking system should work for many years (for example, the warranty period for the Eurosens Dominator fuel level sensors is set at 5 years) and still continue to work after the end of the warranty. On such a long term, the cost of maintaining a monitoring system for its owner may exceed the cost of acquisition.

The real situation. Our conversation with the company-provider of GPS-monitoring services

. – Hello, we are company Mechatronics. We would like to present you our Eurosens Dominator fuel level sensors.

– We are satisfied with current supplier, they are cheaper by 10 USD.

– But in the case of Eurosens Dominator, it is possible to carry out most of the maintenance operations by the customer and save his money.

– We are not interested. All inspection are paid by customer.

It is OK. After all, both parties (and the service provider and the customer) are satisfied with the result. We hardly can imagine an enterprise with a large transport fleet without GPS tracking systems.

And there are some associated stereotypes with GPS tracking:

1. GPS monitoring systems should be installed by GPS tracking providers.

2. Subscription fee is a must, because if something happens to the system only specialist from GPS tracking provider can fix it.

We say “GPS monitoring” – we mean “monthly subscription fee”. On the one hand, this is the right approach. Customer not happy – GPS tracking provider lose monthly payments. In most cases this is reasonable. But what if GPS tracking provider is too far? Not every inspection is free of charge! W

hen GPS tracking system is broken due to the customer employees, he will be billed for the travel cost, replacements and device costs. And these amounts can be serious. The fuel consumption control subsystem is the most critical in terms of complexity of service, diagnostics and frequency of possible malfunctions (“vandalism!). As the dialogue above shows, GPS tracking roviders do not seek to save you from these costs. Moreover – it can turn into a business for “on-site service”. And we all can see a number of tenders for servicing the installed fuel level sensors with the replacement of sensors and carrying out repeated calibrations. Our task as a manufacturer of equipment for remote fuel monitoring was to simplify as much as possible all technical support for the installed system. So customer can do it by himself. And saves his money. Let’s see what we can do here.

Eurosens Dominator has modular design and quick-detachable fuel tank mount. Advantages?

The first is simplicity of technical support. If the remote monitoring device transmit incorrect data on the level of fuel in the tank, the reasons may be different. It can be a water or dirt in the fuel tank, fault level sensor. We can localize the problem without sensor inspection. The sensor is easily removed from the bayonet mount, the electrodes are disconnected. According to the received data, we can determine where the problem is- in the “head” of the sensor, its electrodes or fuel tank.

This does not require inspection of GPS tracking provider, and the sensor is fixed easily in the bayonet mount again, without drilling new holes or loosening old ones.

The only thing that is required is to seal the sensor again from unauthorized extraction. This is done simply thanks to special holes in the bayonet and the sensor, can be performed by the responsible personnel of the owner of the equipment. After the problem is localized, if it a new “head” can be sent for replacement, and the old one can be sent for inspection. If the problem is contamination inside electrodes – customer can clean them easily. Thus, the number of visits to the client can be reduced to a minimum. Comparation the cost of maintenance, which comes after personnel vandalism and sensor failure.

Usual fuel level sensor Eurosens Dominator
New fuel level sensor : 100 USD. Visit for sensor replacement– 30 USD. Tank calibration – 30 USD.   Electronic fuel level sensor module : 70 USD. Electronic fuel level sensor module  – 10 USD. Customer can replace an electronic module in 5 minutes – 0 USD.
Total: 160 USD Total: 80 USD
The difference almost reaches the price of the New Eurosens Dominator level sensor with a full set for installation!!

Another reserve of saving your money – when reinstalling the sensor for a new technique, often its electrodes are not long enough. For Eurosens Dominator it is enough to order a new set of electrodes, which is 8 times cheaper than a new sensor.

Pay attention to the brand Tyco connectors, installed directly in the sensor casing. Tyco connectors are used by leading automotive manufacturers in the crucial applications.Advantages of such socket solution: a cable entrance in traditional fuel level sensors is a weak point, it is often damaged. In this case, the entire sensor needs to be replaced. There is no cable entrance in the Dominator sensors. Yes, you can say that the cable to the Dominator can also be damaged. This is true, but in this case only the cable itself is to be replaced, and it is much cheaper than sensor.

Sensors Eurosens Dominator have a powerful overvoltage protection – they can be connected to power supplies with a voltage of up to 170 volts. This is important, since in the car’s onboard circuit voltage pulses up to 100 Volts are possible. All inputs are protected from an incorrect connection, which can be important for simple maintenance by the customer’s specialists.

Thus, the Eurosens Dominator sensors allow implementing a new approach in the systems of remote monitoring of vehicles and control of fuel consumption – when the most simple maintenance is performed by the customer. Of course, this should be accompanied by a reduction in the monthly invoices from the side of GPS tracking provider. At the same time, the cost of Eurosens Dominator fuel level sensors does not exceed the cost of analogues of traditional design, which are widely represented on the market.
